I JUST made a YouTube documentary on the history of Somalia from 1880s to 1970s. This is the most impartial documentary ever made by anyone.

I will watch your documentary walaal, I am very excited to hear your perspective on our history.

:samwelcome:

I will do this video again to talk faster and with more devastating take down of our inflated glorious grandeur exceptionalism history that we tell one another.

Never heard of this story.

So it wasn’t an invention of his.

There goes his biggest accomplishment I attributed to him :drakewtf:

I wrote about it in another thread, I'll link it.....

Pre-independence, the SYL printed pages of their newspaper in Somali with the Latin script.

Upon election, they promised to create a commission into a new script for Somali. In 1962, the commission recommends Latin. SYL promises to pass the legislation but there was too much opposition. In 1966, the UNESCO Linguistics Commission said they thought Latin should be the script for Somali.

Also, should be noted that Arabic was traditionally the script used for Somali. The wadaads were furious that the SYL were considering Latin (the gaal script) over Arabic. They implemented a campaign of linking the Latin script to kufr which scared off many xildhibaan.

Fast forward to 1972, Barre is in power and decides to end it once and for all. He simply implements the 1962 commission findings and hails himself the saviour of the Somali language.

Latin Somali alphabet was first invited by historian and linguistic Muuse Xaaji Galaal in the 50s and later in the 60s alongside polish-British linguistic Andrzejewski and Somali linguistic Shiire Jamac further developed it which was adopted by the kacaanka regime to be the official script of Somali language

Adeer, another great report. I ain't a fan of watching history unless its graphics based with cartoon (oversimplified I am looking at you :lolbron: ), but this was well presented.

You sounded like that guy from Caspian Reports, I forgot his name, a bit Jon Snow as well (Channel 4 reporter in UK, not the other laangaab bastard on GOT).

Overall great :salute:

So basically the Cadaan claimed credit for it.

either way I’m glad they picked Latin alphabet.

I agree. The concept of nationhood was myopically focused on the clan. The nations state is quite new to the Somalis. We have a very small population, and an untapped resource rich nation and could in theory all be living very well (financially speaking). However, short-sightedness and zero-sum thinking prevents that.

One can say that none of us should be surprised about the anarchy for the last 35 years because we have returned to our natural state. Our natural state of warring clans.

Your majesty:feedme::feedme: Any advice on my nascent YT channel

Good work bro, proud of you:salute:

(tips)
1. Don't take so many breaks while saying a sentence aka do not pause so much.
2. Get a better microphone.
3. Sound more excited about the topic, no offence to your real voice.
4. Get a video editing course or maybe @4head could help you.
(These are just tips to make your videos better and get the audience locked in into the video.
