I notice a lot of Somalis tend to either despise the guts of native AA and think them inferior to us or are so enamored with AAs and their culture that they completely forget they're Somali and consider our ethnic group to be inferior to Bantu-descended AAs; why is there ever no middle ground?

We tried to get the Ogaden in the 70s. We lost. Miserably. It contributed to what would be the future civil war of Somalia. Somaliland refuses to talk to the federal government of Somalia because they won't recognize them. Reuniting the Somali people is a fine dream, no doubt, but it really is only a dream.

Somalis are the same as any other minority group in America and abroad, just like latinos, east asians, arabs, indians, etc. We should respect and get along with everyone, but we shouldn't have to share identity or proclaim hardships of a group who have been in the US for hundreds of years. If anything its kinda disrespectful, screaming 'yasss we black af its lit' & other seemingly ebonic caricatures, and trying to equate yourself with AA's, when your own people were only situated in 1 country until literally 30 years ago, and have literally no experience or involvement in the dire circumstances that have led to the marginalisation of AA's in the US today.
Nevertheless, the way some Somalis go about expressing this sentiment above today is unacceptable and bigoted, using hate and racist tendencies to differentiate themselves from AA's. Their basis however is not wrong, which is Somalis are not the same as AA's and shouldn't be caping so hard for an identity which doesn't belong to them.
Race relations in the us should be strictly between whites and aa, and no other voices are more important to the conversation than the 2 aforementioned, hence the confusion when certain somalis are die hard blm. It is very possible to be tolerant and not bigoted without advocating for or even supporting blm

I would not say "miserably". We had Ogaden in our control for a whole year. Siyaad Barre (a.u.n) just got really cocky and decided after he took Harar to march to Addis Ababa and make Ethiopia a puppet state to Somalia. We all know what happened after. If he had never went passed Harar all of Ogaden, Dir Dhabe, and most of Haraghe would be under Somali control.

She also started going on about how Somalis were slaves to the brits and Italians and how our women were raped by European soldiers on a daily basis and we were victimised by the white colonials
She went on for like a good 20 minutes and when I asked her why she sounded so SJW, she SAID she was a PROUD BLM, #FreePalestine, Socialist SJW
What made me angry was how she believed Somalia should keep its colonial borders but Israel shouldn’t exist because they are “colonials taking and dividing up already occupied land”
Anyways, she admitted to having an identity crisis and as a result was against anything remotely nationalistic for Somalia and argued that Arab migrants should be welcomed onto Hamitic Cushitic land because they are our “brothers”
So I have come to the conclusion that Somali (or confused Reer Xamar/Benadiri) girls are SJW because they have no ties to their native culture or heritage and instead throw themselves onto blacks and Palestinians to feel like they are involved in something. They normally have identity crises and look at Somalia with disdain.
Ladies and gentlemen, AVOID THESE GIRLS LIKE THE PLAGUE. I have never heard such vehement anti-Cushitic rhetoric in my life, I left university disgusted and reviled
