The purpose of a marriage between a man and a woman is the creation of a family unit that lives together under one roof. Separate dwellings for both spouses just complicates matters and confuses/distorts the sharing of responsibilities.

You can't get married and then decide to split the amount of work you both have to do, each spouse needs to put in 100% effort into the marriage. If you can't do that there are simple alternatives, don't get married or if you are already married divorce each other.
