Ibn Khaldun & the Muqaddimah: A historical review

Asabiyyah, a concept introduced by the 14th-century scholar Ibn Khaldun, refers to social cohesion or group solidarity. It is the bond that ties individuals together within a community, enabling them to work toward common goals. In Ibn Khaldun’s view, strong asabiyyah is essential for the success of any society, especially during the formation of states and the establishment of social order. It fosters collective action, resilience in the face of adversity, and a sense of shared identity, which is crucial for overcoming external threats or internal conflicts.

So the question is why don't somalis have strong asabiyyah?

So the question is why don't somalis have strong asabiyyah?

Chronic outside foreign meddling and intrusion fractured it in recent times. We need to repair and rebuild our asabiyyah.

Otherwise Somalis had plenty of asabiyyah. You can see it throughout history, the various sultanates, various city states, tariqa orders, independence movements, revolutionary regime, Islamic Courts Union, etc

These are all examples of successful formation of states and the establishment of social order.
Movements aimed at organized collective action, resilience in the face of adversity, and a sense of shared identity to redress external and internal threats.
