Ideologies in Somalia

Is there any ideologies in Somalia? Apart from Separatism/Unionism, Confederacy and Federalism?

Is there any economic models, foreign policies, social beliefs or even creed differences that politicians debate about.

I'm not saying there is no ideologies in Somalia i'm trying to say there very little well thought out ideological camps that are fighting for what they believe.

We only have one ideology and that's Islam alhamdulilah.

The likes of scientific socialism crashed and burned decades ago.

Islamic populism/Salafism: ikhwaan (control education), itixaad (control business), shabaab (only ones that can actually govern): each group with unique political views/goals. In theory, against qabyaalad and thus supported by laangaabs but is run by laandheers.
Kacaanism/left-wing populism: dying breed. Ultra-nationalists, Very anti islamism. Irreligous folks.
Federalists/secessionists: realpolitik qabiilists.

Good tbh. We can use basic islamic principles to guide us similar to the way europe is guided by christianity. We don't need it to let it control everything.

The people are poor and illiterate. They can't access anything other than Islam in quranic schools. The somali intellectual elite all left and Somalia experienced heavy brain drain.

they have no ideology honestly. i made this criticism a long time ago because it explains the trouble of politics in Somalia. I'd prefer it if we had anything, neoliberalism, socialism, conservative politics anything outside the mess of qabilism that we have.

There's a good example of how politically inept the country is in our so-called elections: in Somalia, they have 4.5, and in Somaliland, the Habar subclans just switch the seats around; they don't even allow new parties to be created.

I would even prefer a system without democracy if we had any direction. if politicians were judged on their economic policy somalia would be a much better country to live in. hell even a democratically centralist government like the ccp could work where the only power you could get was in the party but it allows differing viewpoints -within limits- that form coalitions within the goverment.

Well socialist teachings or any teaching that stem from Liberalism and enlightenment age values are fundamentally anti-Islam. Islam itself is a political ideology and cannot co-exist with another ideology as a top dog same way you cannot blend Islam and Christianity or Buddhism and Judaism.

Well socialist teachings or any teaching that stem from Liberalism and enlightenment age values are fundamentally anti-Islam. Islam itself is a political ideology and cannot co-exist with another ideology as a top dog same way you cannot blend Islam and Christianity or Buddhism and Judaism.

This narrative is so tired and one of the reasons we don't have any presence in the modern world, there are many workarounds where islam can coexist with other modern political ideologies they aren't mutually exclusive

I’d argue the opposing narrative is why we don’t have any presence in the modern world. We try to mix Islam with whatever the dominant ideology is and it’s quite impossible. Either go fully Islam or fully Liberal but this hybrid won’t work because the fundamentals of both ideologies are contradictory.

And another hadith

Allah has made sacred upon you the blood, wealth and honour of each other, just as the sacredness of this day of yours in this land of yours in this month of yours. “ (Bukhari)

Here the sanctity of Muslim blood is emphasised as it is compared to the sanctity of the Day of ‘Arafah, the land of Makkah, and the month of Dhul Hijjah.

What Muslim lands, muslim governments or majority of Muslims follow these hadiths? We don't hold onto that which the Prophet S.a.w told us to follow as a guide, and we don't protect the sanctity of a Muslim as we were instructed. What good can come from a people who kill for qabiil or rob others or oppress others because of qabiil or throw away their religion for random western ideologies?

That's why we are weak and have no peace or power in this worldly life.

Islam is built upon that the rule of law/legislation only belongs to Allah, whereas most modern Western ideological thinking believes that the rule of law belongs to man(secular thought).

You forgot about the different sufi groups.

In Somalia, sufis are generally not into politics and only care about their sufi spiritual experience and practices. Sufi only become militant against alshabab/ittehad because salafists destroy their shrines and force on them the Salafi ideology. Otherwise, they do not have a particularly sufi political identity.
Caydiid used the sufi name (Ahlusunna) against Darod/Ceyr-dominated ittihad and HG/Sacad clan used them against the Ceyr-dominated ICU.
