What would be the outcome? We know there are reserves in oodweyne block where the oil is seeping due to reservoir pressure and also saraar region.

If managed well, it can prove beneficial to have a major commodity to export instead of livestock (which most died sadly).

However, the wholesale crude oil price has decreased dramatically due to less demand in the developing world (mostly china) + shale gas and renewable technological advances will make it worst for SL$.

Still, for a country of 3/4 mill it will help a lot.

On a side note, some armchair experts (no offence srs) in the other thread made good points about how the lazy SL government can improve the nation by diversifying their economy and other points however, Somaliland is unrecognised and only few nations (with interests of their own) are trading with SL (Ethiopia-khat lol & middle east-livestock) which is why an SL that is over relient in livestock exports got stung hard by the drought and there wasn't much they could do about it especially with a budget of £300 mil a year + SL doesn't really receive bilateral (state to state) aid.

That is why, despite the negatives, i am optimistic of the investment in the Berbera port as it will initially support and sustain (directly and indirectly) possibly 100,000s of jobs + due to the violence in Yemen, Berbera can become a centre of shipping for Suez bound ships like a shipping based Singapore in east Africa (don't laugh lol) after a few decades.

It would be good for the elite but given the fact that income distribution is really poor in Somaliland (Gap between rich and poor is very high), the elite will collect the lion share of the oil revenue which will cause a mass uprising across Somaliland, starting in Oodweyne

Oil or no oil reer Oodweyne are blessed. They already have the largest underground water in Somali areas. We can turn our areas into rainforest with that water.

It indeed belongs to BD but both groups are HY. If a war breaks out 2morro regarding the oil we will fight side by side.
