I prefer to focus on myself, but it’s clear that while women are excelling, many young men are slipping through the cracks. This is especially true for those from single-parent households. The majority of Somali diaspora are either directly or indirectly there due to the civil war. So we're the outcome of displacement.

Somali parents want what's best for their children (like all parents do) but don't have the resources, connections, knowledge to prepare their kids to flourish and prosper in the West.

For 2nd, 3rd generation Somalis, things will be better. Its a matter of time.

Lack of direction. Most kids born here or came here very young have this cloud of going back to Somali and fixing the nation or if they can't do that raise kids that will do so in the future. It wont erase the fact that Somalis in the west are performing exceedingly great. They arrived in the west following displacement from war, was met with structural barriers, discrimination and in a span of few years have worked to overcome them. Their employment rates have risen significantly , their educational attainment rates have also risen and so has their civic participation rates.

They are also out performing native populations and the national average in educational attainments. Where they rank among the best performing

This is completely false. Somalis are not performing exceeding well, its actually the contrary. Lambeth is literally a small area within London, whilst somali pupils are doing well there, it is an outlier and not representative of the somali student wider population.

It's not just Lambeth. The stats i showed above it was for Somalis in London schools in general which includes Camden and Tower Hamlet.

Between 2007 and 2013 Somalis were already outperforming white british pupils.

Between 2013-2015 they were outperforming the national average

You can also see this as a trend for Somalis in different parts of the UK outside of London, that they are just outperforming other groups.

This is true, Somalis and other east Africans who speak their mother tongue at home are outpeforming English speaking natives in Seattle for example.

It shows that dual-lingualism is not a significant educational barrier.

People have easily tested this btw by using Somali Seattle educational test scores and compared it to African American test scores. Mind you Black Americans in Washinghton/DC area have an average measured IQ of 94.
