Well this applies to all history narratives not only poetry including Haddith. While Haddith has strict rules of authentication, history ( poetry included) has rules that are more lenient. Luckily when it comes to Jahilliyah era the sources are numerous from sahaba such as Hassan bin thabit (ra) and Abdullah bin abbas (ra) to tabiciin like Abban ibin Othman bin affan and more hence why these poems authenticity are agreed upon. Muslims started documenting history as early as second century hijri.I’ve heard of the hanging poems .Does that make it more authentic cause I heard a man say that no poem centuries back are accurate and have words added to them especially when passed orally.
