Influx of Younger Barawanis Coming for Ethnic Somalis and their Culture

They are insufferable. They act like they are some stateless nation like the Kurds, claiming to be native to Somalia, Yemen, Tanzania, and Kenya all at once, then in the same breath admit they came from Yemen. Our fault for allowing them to claim reer Xamar/ reer barawa as an identity.

Perfectly put, their superiority complex is so weird. These people identify with their Arab side more than their Somali side. Which is funny because pure Arabs don’t like them either because of their African side.

They look down on us, but their so called “Arab brethren” look down on them as well.
Also their Arab side seems exaggerated. They have lot's of south Asian ancestry as well

their story is that they came from the arabian peninsula to spread islam and founded cities.. which is obvs not true. Some were merchants, some exiled ppl, some came with the italians or brits not so long ago

their origins is very diverse, indian, central-asian, yemeni, bantu etc.

siad Bare government over emphasised the purely nomadic side of Somalis. They also over emphasised the likes of Gurey and Abdullah Hassan, though important warriors, kind of take away from the multi faceted History of Somalis. Many older people in my family believe Arabs founded everything in Somalia and Somalis only knew how to herd animals . Maybe I am being too harsh to Siad Bare as many good works on Somali history were compiled during that time. They just didn’t achieve mainstream significance. Hopefully, now with the rise of social media and diaspora Somali researchers, we are just scratching the surface and will end a lot of this Persian/Arab hotep waffle.

Also, this group are heavily inbred and many influencers I have come from across from this community have a heavily disabled family member because of their high levels of consanguineous marriage (a trait they picked up from their foreign ancestors).
Sweet home xamarweyne 🤣

@Gracias @ditto Banadiris are Somalis. I'm not sure if you're both from the South but they're fully assimilated into the Somali fold and seen as Somalis. I notice it's usually Somalis from the north that question their Somaliness because they're not used to diversity. The north is much more homogenous and less diverse compared to the South where we have many different 'dialects' and different groups who are all considered Somali. We're much more tolerant of differences as a result.

This is insane levels of cuqdad. I met enough Barawanis who were proud Somalis and have not a single hate in their hearts.

You were radicalized by online folks. I suggest you reflect on your cuqdad.
I’m from the south, not everyone who dislikes these people is an ignorant northerner. No, they’re not seen as Somalis. Yes, there are barawanis who see themselves as Somali and there are barawanis who don’t; I’m clearly responding to a racist who doesn’t.

“It’s just the internet” is cope because this girl is posting videos showing her face while liking racist comments. She, and the rest of her mixed followers, clearly have hate in their heart but I’m not allowed to comment on it? They stick to the internet because nobody would say this irl the same way other racists will post whatever online but remain silent irl. Does this mean their views have changed? No, they just understand that there are repercussions for people who are racist irl. I can’t believe people are trying to pretend it’s a few of them who think this and I’m a conspiracy theorist when mixed people looking down on non-mixed people is common across the world.

The guy I was responding to on here has an entire account dedicated to hating on Somalis, lying about our historical achievements and told me that he would send me to Ethiopia but I’m the bad guy for responding & not tolerating it? We can talk about incels all day long but are we not allowed to talk about mixed people and their obsession with historical revisionism to try and make it look like we were dumb nomads with 0 achievements? This is just plain racism (from them) btw and I’m not sure why I’m expected to tolerate it.

They claim other ethnicities because it is not “cool” to be Somali. Sad but it’s the truth. They will also be harassed for not looking Somali if they do claim it like the MMA guy Muhidin.

The reputation of Somali people is cooked beyond repair due to certain people and certain clans

These same people will tell you they’re Somali, but they will always talk about their Arab side, have Arab flags, call themselves Arab in their comments. And they’ll even claim that their Arab ancestors founded Somali cities and states and that they “civilised” us.

They confuse me so much. They claim Somali but look down on us at the same time. They only claim Somali when convenient.

Sorry to say, but in my experience the vast majority of them see themselves as Arab and don’t care or like the rest of us.
Nah bro stop generalising. I’m reer xamar (ashraaf) technically but only found like two years ago. I look like a completely normal somali and no one has ever doubted my somalinimo. When I found out I was reer xamar I was actually mad shocked not every minority has animosity and your lowkey tryna “other” them. Asharaf are the most assimilated Somalis and look like them the most ibr and we’re not like sheeikhal waving Yemeni flags
