Depends on which europeans. Maghrebis are closer to iberians and other med populations, then the levant arabia and then east africans. The only reason why they are close is because east africans have ancient eurasian ancestry. Maghrebis are only close to fellow med populations

Canary Islands are basically of amazigh origin but were seperated for thousands of years. It could be that they came from the south and had a west african ancestor. The maghrebis have always had trade links there. But generally speaking most maghrebis were coastal and being farmers only a minority were actually nomads that travelled.
