Iran is clearing out Somalia's EEZ of fish

Somalis think their infighting for thirty years has no consequences. This is why I’m of the opinion that an imperfect agreement > a perfect one. Too many people/clans holding out for what they think is the perfect deal. The result is pilfering of natural resources and watching the world pass us by.

If I was your president in the future. Those countries would be black listed where ever possible, clearly shows what they think of you. Actions speak far louder then words. Muh brudda talks don't work on me. My eyes do tho. Judging by that english speaking world seem to be the best.

That yeild curve is damn shocking if true, look at the spikes(that's extreme shocks or heightened activity) it's not even slow n steady yeild curve, just explodes post 1990s. Gets more refined in the 2000s due to experience until pirates stepped in and now their back again explosive theft.
They said Somalia has no govt how can they have exclusive economic zone. Snippet below

Many experts have either questioned or altogether dismissed the illegality of foreign fishing during this era on the grounds that Somalia had not declared its EEZ.37 Although it signed and ratified the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982 and 1989 respectively, it was not until June 2014 that Somalia officially proclaimed its EEZ in accordance with the maritime zones recognized under UNCLOS. It has been reported that between 800 and 1,000 vessels were actively engaged in IUU fishing operations in the Somali EEZ at any given time during the 1990s and 2000s, costing the country more than $300 million each year in lost revenue from stolen fish.38 More recently, the foreign catch was estimated to be in the region of 132,000 tons in 2013, accounting for 56 percent of total catches taken in Somalia's EEZ.39

Why is the UN convention of the law of the sea always dependent on the nation existing and present in order to have it's territorial integrity preserved? Sure they can't exactly use legal instruments because their no representative for the said nation, but the actual territory is what the law is linked to not if the territory itself has a present govt or not. I'm not a lawyer but gee these laws say the law is on land, sea, air protection of member states but is also linked to the member state being present in the UN.

Does that mean I can loot my neighbour land or possessions because he is disabled or not present or is incapacitated to report my crime? Or does the law protect that man's home, land plot, etc irrespective of he is present or has the ability to report crimes? That also means I can abuse children also because they can't report or speak for themselves. We need a vulnerable country rule of law system also just like we do with vulnerable people.

That's fine too. I ain't gonna run to birta dheer and get militias because I was refused a post by the people of PL. Will continue contributing as much as I can to see them on a better course to better outcomes. I feel this is an ancestoraI obligation and not linked to petty politics.

Somali people have no sense of time. Somalia's central gov collapsed 34 years ago this month. If this goes on for another 16 years, the same amount of time separating us from 2009, Somalia will have not had a functioning central gov for half a century.

The window of time where it is still possible to imagine a Somali state along the same lines as 1960 is closing. People will give up on rebuilding the state at some point and opt to work with what they can build locally. I think that would be a catastrophic outcome btw.

Time is not on the side of the Somali state, especially in a world where the US is threatening Denmark with war.

2026 is make or break. The world won’t waste their time on Somalia (and shouldn’t) if they can’t get their act together by then.

If the US stops giving food aid their would be a massive population collapse which would pave way for complete Ethiopian dominance and eventual ethnic replacement.
That’s fine sxb, as long as reer hebel doesn’t get anything

world is dog eat dog. Somalia getting cheated in every way imaginable. From materials we buy , to fuel we receive, and even trade deals. Since we have no real governance and oversight everyone cuts corners when it comes to Somalia. Who is gonna do quality control, who will sue and hold people accountable. It’s easy money to sell garbage to Somalia and steal marine resources

Everything is linked to time tho in the world due to it's short supply. Everyone carries watches, looks at their 12000 hours dedicated to work across a 100 year life time, assesses your value vs loss, if senses nothing was gained, moves on with(sorry pal I'm In a rush maybe next time).

Yet U see Somalis waste absolute the most productive hours of a day(sun up, sun down) in the millions in Somalia leading to a predictable outcome an unproductive person who will die no different to animal death, while productive person has contributed a positive legacy yet time was the same not different for either.

This dude produced $80,000 per year during his productive work life(40 years) 20 to 60, but in retirement still provides useful life wisdom for next generation on lessons learned. Where as Somali 20 to 40 is productive years spends it on waiting for diaspora aid or western aid, and in his final 20 years give no lessons learned to the future, the cycle or trap continues thru more birth but outcomes are fixed.

@Hilmaam @DR OSMAN the only fix to this is for Puntland to stop issuing fishing licenses so that every time we see a foreigner in Puntland's portion of Somalia's EEZ, we know he is fishing illegally.

There will not be a solution to this until Puntland stops issuing fishing licenses. Puntland has refused to do so although this problem has been known for over a decade now. The $300k or $500k they earn from sales of licenses were more important to Gaas and Deni than the present & future livelihood of Puntland fishing communities.

These fishing communities receive virtually no government services and don't expect any.
Instead of leaving them alone, Gaas and Deni chose to destroy their livelihoods.

Puntland is run by people who have no mercy for their own people.
They do things that permanently ruin the lives of tens of thousands with almost no thought.

Puntland has the richest fishing grounds in somalia. within 24 miles supposed to be off limits to foreigners. But corrupt officials making money off selling licenses to foreigners and providing security. local fisherman get bullied by foreigners and their somali security teams.

Its much easier to make money this way instead of trying to get taxes from local fisherman who dont have big ships and big customer base. somalia struggles to process the fish and store it properly. This makes it hard to sell it abroad and get most money for fish
