I rather my people become atheists than salafis.In my experience many Somalis who become irreligious sometimes have nihilistic tendencies and are unable to fill the void of religiosity with something else due to innate laziness and apathy. Naturally Somalis are a volatile people and you don't have to be a white colonialist to come up with that conclusion... it's pretty self-evident.
Atheism is on the other end of the belief spectrum so I am wondering whether it will become just as dangerous as fundamentalism has become?
