And we all know what Abiye Ahmed said just recently, if I remember correctly ‘We will take a port either peacefully, or by force’. The only viable option he has from a logical perspective is Berbera, which Ethiopia own a large stage in.
Lastly, this is where the final piece of the puzzle comes in, and which cements my theory. It’s not secret France has been training and propping up Ethiopias Navy. Just recently 30k navy troops came back from training in France (although this needs to be confirmed).
Why would landlocked Ethiopia need a Navy, especially when some of its population is literally starving. Because this is a much bigger PRIORITY for them and a geopolitical chess game. They are probably planning for a potential war, mostly naval, with Egypt by 2040. SL got too big for it’s boots and aggravated Ethiopia by threatening them with an Egyptian Base in Berbera.
