Me and my siblings sneaked out and tried to do it behind our parents back when we were younger. Safe to say they beat the daylights out of us and we learnt our lesson. Picture the scene of a Somali dad walking around the xaafad with a belt looking for his kids.
My mom would leave a bowl of candy outside for the kids but refuses to hang halloween decorations (cause shaydaan )...which is fair
Thanksgiving is I think more common + is a religiously neutral holiday. I've been to thanksgiving dinners hosted by Somalis for our off-brand Canadian Thanksgiving.
