A psychiatrist is just someone who specializes in mental health disorders and can prescribe psychotropic or therapeutic interventions to treat them. Theres nothing haram about that.
The old mode of Freudian therapy, however, was just tassawuf mixed with Freud's occult and sexual obsessions. It is as livia soprano said "a racket for the yahuud"
Most of today's cognitive based therapies for anxiety and personality disorders is pretty much just talking (see motivational interviewing and self determination theory). Its not haram per se but it has certain problematic assumptions. For some people, however, it is not only halal but outright necessary.
This is without mentioning that many of todays mental illnesses are not the majnuni rip your clothes off variety but rather the byproduct of deeply disturbed social ecologies and the lacna that comes with that

The reason one seeks a psychiatrist is to seek professional help in mental health. A psychiatrist is a doctor at the end of the day. If you had a heart problem wouldn’t you disclose your problem to a Cardiologist Doctor? It’s exactly the same thing.
