Probably 1990s that was the year the Siad Barre regime came to an end. Blaxk hawk down, civil war. Since than we haven't had a decent decade just been constant decaying.

I would have to say the 2000s without a doubt, The war was finally starting to close off, the ICU came back in power but at the wrong time. They were hot in the eyes of america with their new policy after 9/11. So thats when they planned the great traitor Abdullahi Yusuf to team up with Ethiopia along with American support to invade the country again. This is like the 2nd chapter of the civil war which in my view is still lasting to this day. This event set somalia back at least another 20 years. Now we have this 4.5 Garbage and the worse governance of mankind. AY was humilated and the stopians were smiling knowing they were the winners regardless of what happens.
The 90s was just idiotic, the civil war shouldnt have even lasted a year but nah lets destroy this entire country they said.

I would say 1991 -2005 & 2007- 2012 is hands down the worst period for Somalia
- Death and destruction of every kind imaginable and looting.
- Famines
- Widespread decline in living standards, health, collapse of key infrastructure, industries, education, services etc
- Several invasions, occupations
- Our maritime waters became unsafe, and dumping ground
- Division and fragmentation.


The brief period of 2006 when the Islamic Court Union took over it was a golden age for Somalia:
- Delivery of social services
- Restitution of health care and education
- Outlawed nepotistic and discriminatory practices
- United all clans and neighborhoods
- Rise of business of enterprises and opening up of trade
- Construction boom
- Clean up and sanitation campaign
- Environmental protection laws banning charcoal exports and wild life
- Crime plummeted and there was overall peace and stability.
- Restitution of illegal land and property grabs
- Pushed for fair and free democratic elections
- Rehabilitated and re-opened key infrastructure


2015-2024 (current day) is when you see small sustained improvements
- Secured maritime waters
- Private sector boom
- Construction and housing boom
- Increase in investment
- Decline in Alshabab control
- Strengthening of the Somali National Army
- Formation of a Police force to enforce law (capacity and corruptions remains though)
- Growing GDP and growing middle class in the urban areas
- Political stabilization with the creation of federal local governments
- Debt relief
- Natural resource exploration (particularly oil and gas) which can potentially bring wealth
- Opening of several factories, industries and services.

civil war 2 was worse than civil war 1, people don't take into account the fact that true the destruction of xamar took place in 2006.
