Football is the biggest sport in Somalia so how are we so xaar in it? even the word xaar is kind. It's extremely shameful how we have brain dead commitee for the Football federation that isn't doing anything to progress our national team. You can even see the u17 have some sort of talent yet aren't being invested in. I'm just going to continously make dua we win the world cup before the year 2040 every day till it comes true. I'm never going to give up in that dream becoming a reality

Both basketball and soccer. We just need a manager and a new committee passionate in getting the teams to major tournament.

There’s no academy, sports facilities, coaches etc etc, the sports ministry post is given to HSMs kinsmen and he allows them to basically plunder and embezzle the development money sent by the various football federations, as part of clan patronage and general corruption.Football is the biggest sport in Somalia so how are we so xaar in it? even the word xaar is kind. on the other hand I have nothing but respect for the players, the coaches who volunteer and the manager, they’re getting paid nothing and they’re still trying.
The dhalinyaro in Somalia love football more, and there’s a massive pool of talent.

corruption has to finally end by the next election. No corruption means the money is allocated to the football federation and this time with organised committee. We can see the talent in the locals.
we should invest heavily with sports development within the Madowwyne tribe. after all they are the much better than the lanky lamagodle at soccer. ethnic somalis need to focus on basketball and i have theory we might be good for martial arts such as mma and boxing due to our long limbs and good cardio. we would also be able to fight against dudes much shorter than us since we are slimmer. only thing im questioning is if wether we would be able to take a hit to the head. cant do nothing with a glass jaw in martial arts

We shouldn't neglect ethnic Somalis. They just need to gain muscles, new healthy diet regimen and be trained hard. Football should the number one priority since it's the most popular sport in Somalia and globally. Us even qualifying for afcon would be like winning the lottery ticket. No offence other sports aren't hyped like Football.
may not be as hyped but ufc champion would gain the young men alot of respect among peers

Basketball is the more athletic sport if we do well there, we should do well in practically any sport to be honest.
But with Somalia it's not do with lack of talent or athleticism, as we can see in our current youth teams that won CECAFA soccer cup and other athletes . It really comes down to institutional support.
When the Somali government invested in it back in the days , it resulted in champions and medalists in various fields of sports and this was just the span of a few years.
It's better if Somalis create their own independent body or federation like you said outside the government and find funding through various sponsorships from local businesses. Since the sports ministry is a no show and highly corrupt. So much like anything in Somalia it requires a bit sidestepping the public sector.
Recent scandals should give better grounds to argue to allocate sports organizational duties to a separate body.
