Is swahili the Lingua franca of Africa

Swahili is the largest indigenous African lingua franca so we can’t really hate them for being the most African laandhere. Out of the most common African langauges (English, French, Arabic, swahili) only swahili is African

Kenya ha hurburto leaking let’s not get it twisted, but i am someone who recognises laandheerenimo when i see it
Yeah but calling swahili arab pidgin is disingenuous, especially when Somali isn’t exactly the most purest of pure languages

Swahili is categorized as a Bantu language, and its Arabic influence is definitely there but not overwhelming enough for an Arabic speaker to recognize more than a word here and there
Leave it to the Somalis here to tear down anything black while uplifting anything Arab.

Kiswahili or sawahili's original speakers are native of Somalia. The Barawe people and many banadiris speak. I'm sure Xamarweyne, Shangani and boondeer all the way to Raas Kamboni along the ocean + mshunguli and other Somali bantus speak fluently in kiswahili.
It spread in Kenya and Uganda and Tangayinka most mainland Africa through colonization.

The language was made by non-African Arabs trying to communicate with Bantus :nvjpqts:
Nah, its a sabaki language that gained arabic influence. The arab loans in it are about 35-40%. Its not any more arabic then turkish or urdu is. The man who wrote your source is also not an actual licensed linguist and teaches "African Studies" in San Diego

It was implemented in the curriculum systems in 2018 , not that long ago although there are no significant Swahili speakers in South Africa, it's just for political purposes like Pan Africanism , I don't believe it's influencing nationwide but it's already taught in elementary schools , they've imported native speakers from the coastal towns of Tanzania and Kenya , yh they have a Kiswahili Sanifu dialects , pure Swahili tbh my nephew who's born here is learning this language alongside with Afrikaans and Xhosa.

do you have any proof for that because that makes no sense. Kiswahilli is a bantu language. Why would it originate in somalia?

Ya know after thinking about it further that makes absolutely no sense. No one cares if mushunguli people speak kiswahili or Barawe because it did not originate in Somalia.

North Africans were cucked by Arabs culturally. They lost their indeginous languages and adopted Arab culture and language.

If it was left to the ana carab bootlickers from this forum to decide, Somalia would also totally lose its language and join the Arabic speakers list like North Africa. :drakelaugh:

I mean, yeah, it technically is.

It's the most spoken African language across the continent due to how formalized and simple it is (much like English).

Do you know the swahili language or have you ever lived with those people? I can't argue with "jiir haan ku weynaaday". Research kibarava swahili dialect.
Learn and gain knowledge before you run your emotions.

One of the largest somali cities, Kismaayo is swahili. The bajuni people are present in Somalia and likely have interacted with somalis for ages.

Have you guys noticed that somalis have influenced a lot of east africa. Easy example is the women clothes baati, that a lot of East africans from Tanzania to Ethiopia wear. While similar clothing exists, it is known that they have gotten it from somalis ( correct me if I am wrong ).

arabic is the most spoken language in africa.

The languages of Africa break down into four large families (phyla), with an additional Austronesian family spoken in Madagascar; the four continental language families are:
  • Niger-Congo
  • Afroasiatic
  • Nilo-Saharan
  • Khoisan

Niger-Congo
Niger-Congo, with approximately 1,350 - 1,650 languages is the largest of the four; it is also the largest language family in the world. The Niger-Congo languages inhabit Western, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa. The most widely spoken languages of Africa, Swahili (100 million), Hausa (38 million), Yoruba (20 million), Amharic (20 million), Igbo (21 million), and Fula (13 million) all belong to the Niger-Congo family.”

(I’m not sure why Amharic is categorized as Nilo-Congo but it’s an Afroasiatic, someone should alert Harvard lol)

Afroasiatic
The next largest family is Afroasiatic with about 200 - 300 member languages in Africa The Afroasiatic languages in Africa are found mainly in the Northern regions of Africa, including: northern Nigeria, southern Niger, Somalia, and in the North African countries of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc.”

Nilo-Saharan
“Next in size is the Nilo-Saharan family with about 80 languages. These occupy Eastern Africa and the North Eastern region of Africa, namely: Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Chad, the Sudan, etc.”

Khoisan
“Last but not least is the Khoisan family with between 40 - 70 members. Believed to be the oldest of the four language families, it is the smallest of the four and is found mainly in Southern Africa.”

The three most powerful languages in Africa are English, French and Arabic. Swahili is in a tier below them.

Most of these languages are going to continue to decline in the future as European along with Arabic and Swahili languages progressively assimilate the rural people linguistically. Africa is too diverse and different ethnic groups in one country will not allow one language to predominate others so they'll go for the neutral European, Arabic or Swahili language.

East Africans were well known sea-farers in the Indian Ocean. They didn't get it from Somalis.
