You are right Gulf and Yemeni Arabs mostly use wallah rather than Walaahi and often might use words like wa bil Mas7af (on the Koran book), but rarely will they use it when lying. If a Somali is lying, Just stare at them, walaahi will be followed. We learnt it (in-order to lie) as children just to avoid corporal punishment.
