SameI read the title and I was like where are you going with this
A fixed amount so that no one can take advantage of it later on.Why is zakat only 2.5% rather than progressive the more you earn

It’s fair and equal. Studies prove that if everyone where to follow the shariah law of Zakat, poverty would be at its lowest. It’s a perfect system even acknowledged by Westerners.Advantage how so?
Maybe it's the fact it ain't fair and discourages people to build wealth in the first place.

I agree I was trying to connect it to the TAX the rich movement.
As zakat percentage doesn't increase no matter your income
2.5 is the minimum for those that can give. Anything else is optional but most people donate more than the 2.5 set.
Firstly I called it communist/socialist for one of the pillars it implements, which is essentially mutual aid which is one of the primary methods of implementing communism.Communism is more radical than that.
They don't support private property which is something we are allowed to have in islam.
Also commerce and trading would be hard under a communist system. Communism is a secular ideology and the majority of it's followers are atheists. Islam cannot be compared to modern societal and economic models because it surpasses them all.
People helping one another and being kind is not communism/socialism. communism/socialism is a political ideology where the GOVERMENT. owns most private property. In communist society u cant even pay zakat because you don't own anything the government hands out everything.Firstly I called it communist/socialist for one of the pillars it implements, which is essentially mutual aid which is one of the primary methods of implementing communism.
It's important you acknowledge that private ownership in Islam isn't as it is in the West because the public will always receive a percentage of returns on private ownership through zakat (or khums if they're shia) unlike in the West where their morals aren't guided by Allah but what they can get away with, hence the formation of tax havens and accumulation of private wealth, which has resulted in the top1% owning as much as the bottom 50%. This would never happen under Islam.
It's not just people helpling eachother and even as the Quran says "If you had brought it yesterday, I would have taken it, but today I am not in need of it."People helping one another and being kind is not communism/socialism. communism/socialism is a political ideology where the GOVERMENT. owns most private property. No it's not.zakat isnt communist its welfare which is implemented by all current capitalist countries. These are communist tho

- Most fundamentally, Islam, unlike Marxism, is not a materialistic ideology. Islam teaches that matter is not the foundation of existence, but rather God is who transcends matter. It teaches that humans have an immaterial eternal soul that can be affected by both material and spiritual realities, by both satanic influences and Divine influences. Islam however agrees that religion, only once corrupted and emptied of its spiritual spirit, can be employed as a tool for justifying the rule of the hypocritical tyrants who hide their profane worldly motivations behind religious pretensions.
- Islam doesn’t believe that the only or most fundamental form of injustice in a society is economic exploitation. In Islam there is a long list of personal and social vices that are believed to represent injustice or corrupt man and society. Above all, lack of faith in God who is source of all goodness, including justice, is considered to be the reason for all forms of vice that affect mankind.
- As a result, Islam doesn’t view private ownership to be the cause of economic injustice. It’s rather held that moral vices such as greed, materialism and preoccupation with worldly desires lead a businessman to withheld the fair share of the workers in profits, among other injustices. But a truly God-conscious businessman would fulfill the rights of his workers among his other religious economic obligations such as moderation, avoidance of luxury, spending on charity and lending money without interest to those in need, thus contributing to formation of a just and equal society. Likewise, once workers accrue their fairs share in profits and also pass around their extra wealth, social injustice will gradually disappear. True faith is believed to make all of this possible by eliminating greed and man’s selfish attachment to his personal wealth. What is remarkable is that all of the above is achieved without having to abolish private ownership of wealth.
- Thus Islam doesn’t believe that a just society can be shaped by the iron fist of a rough autocratic ruling party and workings of a soulless bureaucracy that aim to externally force equality against man’s rebellious nature by using fear and control. But rather Islam argues that social justice and harmony can only emerge organically as a social effect of a spiritually conscious life.
