Heshiiskaan ayaa dhigaaya in dowladda Itoobiya saami ku yeelato dekadda Dooraale ee laga caydhiyey Shirkada DP World oo laga leeyahay Dalka Imaaraadka Carabta & in maalgashi ay ku sameeyaan shirkaddaha ganacsi ee dalka Itoobiya.

Booqashadii ra’iisul wasaaraha Itoobiya Abiy Ahmed uu ku yimid Jabuuti ayaa heshiisyadii uu saxiixay qeybta ugu weyn ay tahay heshiiska Dekeda Dooraale, waxaana dhanka Jabuuti u saxeexay madaxweyne Ismaaciil Cumar Geelle.

Telefishinka Itoobiya oo laga baahiyay heshiiskaan ayaa waxaa la filayaa in sida ugu dhaqsaha badan u dhaqan galo si loo bilaabo maagashiga balaadhan ee Itoobiya balan qaaday.

Dowladda Jabuuti ayaa dhawaan ka baxday heshiis horumarineed oo ay kula jirtay shirkadda DP World ee Imaaraadka, taasoo ku laashay markii ay ku cawdeen inay DP World kasoo bixi weyday heshiiskii horay loo galay.

Itoobiya aya sidoo kale, saami 19% ku leh heshiiiska seddax geesood ee dekadda Berbera oo ka dhaxeeyo Imaaraadka, Somaliland iyo Itoobiya.

You are burying your head in the sand if you think this move won't have any effect. It is very hard for Berbera port to compete with Doraleh port which already handles 95% of Ethiopia imports.

my friends, I can see you don't have the basic comprehension of economics

- as you said, 95% of Ethiopia's port traffic going through djbooty, however, there are high costs involved with this and congestion with this option, especially at a time when Ethiopia's economic growth is growing at a rapid rate, they will need another hub for their growing exports and imports and berbera is in a perfect position to do that. Secondly, the Ethiopians are diversifying their options, you cant depend on one source for critical trade.

That is if only Berbera port can handle the needs of Ethiopia. Why do you think Ethiopia has been using Djibouti port for 95% of its imports all those decades? it is because Berbera can't simply handle such traffic and lacks the equipments. Its only hope to get some of the share is if it is developed by DP World in the tune of hundred of millions of dollars.

The little cisse clan enclave lacks both the population and location to be the long term partner of the majestic Ethiopeans. We are far better partners for them than Djibouti. It is just that our current status as a isolated unrecognized de facto state is slowing the process by a lot.

@Bohol it all depends on how fast Ethiopia wants to diversify away from Djibouti. It is very dangerous for a landlocked country to rely on one port for almost all imports. That is why Berbera and Port Sudan came into play.

There is already plan in place to construct additional berth at the Port of Berbera to handle Ethiopian traffic.

Djibouti has been a reliable economic partner of Ethiopia for decades hence why it docks 95% of its imports from there. Furthermore, Djibouti is very secure stability wise you have the USA, France and other bases so it is unlikely Ethiopian investments will be affected. That is the reason why Djibouti is the no.1 partner of Ethiopia and very unlikely to change for a longtime.

Waa ruunta laakin I believe Djibouti ultimately only really benefited from Somalia being lawless post-1991 with no central Government. That is why all investments and bases went there.

That is why it has a big head start compared to Berbera, Bosaaso, Kismaayo etc.

Yep at least you are realistic. Djibouti is a recognized stable country. It is miles ahead in terms of forging ties with Ethiopia and other countries.

It was only talking about regions which was Sanaag and Sool. It didn't prove anything since most of Somaliland population is located in Woqooyi Galbeed and Togdheer which is economically far greater than Puntland.

lol "Ethiopia signed a port deal, it means game over for djbooty port" - @Bohol

We got shares of Ethiopian airlines, which is the best of its kind in africa. On the other hand, u got a minority share( 30%) and no say at all on what goes down in the port.

Landers always getting bamboozled with their lack of leverage.
