They’re from Puntland. Even those that claim that Xamar belongs only to cadcads still note that there were Abgaal presence from since the 1600s. The Ajurans were in control of the Banadiri region at one point and they’re related to the Abgaal.

What relations does a Puntlander have with Banadiri or even the South for that matter? Even the Abgaals who aren’t from Xamar but from the Miiy still live close vicinity to the city.

I mentioned it because you said earlier, 'what relations does PL have with the south?'. You do know that Kismayo was Oromo land 200 years ago? Until Daroods took over from them and started settling there. Clans of PL origin were amongst those Somalis settling there afterwards.

The Italians even noted that Majerteen made up 13 % of the population of Xamar (1430) but that their population fluctuates.

I know that many Abgaals are from the baadiyo of the city but groups like the Reer Mattan of Abgaals are from Xamar same with Mursadde groups. MJs have no claim and were there as immigrant traders.

Also, Xamar has expanded so places that weren’t historically Xamar are now part of Xamar and those places have always had Hawiye living there. They are the originals. Even Jazeerah wasn’t Xamar in the past and my great grandparents were born there.

Hence this whole conversation about Hawiyes not originating in Xamar isn’t even honest as it doesn’t reflect the new expanded city.
