There actually were Yemeni jews in somalia and Djibouti until the 1940's most went to Israel and Italy. In the 1940s Somalia Chamber of Commerce there were 2 jews. I've also read about synagogue in Xamar and Merca and a jewish cemetery. The jews synagogue in Berbera is still standing but there was no prosecution or forced exodus the community was probably so small no one even cared.

The chiefs probably did this because the Jews were usually designated to the "taboo" work like stone-masonry, glass-working and working jewelry like gold and silver smithing. How many of them were ethnic Somalis? Your own post says the Jews were from Yemen lol. They have no history in Somalia, stop trying to get us involved in that mess. They migrated across the Middle East, North Africa & Europe. There is not much evidence of Jewish migrations to sub Saharan Africa as far as I’m aware. The ones from Ethiopia aren’t even ethnically Jewish, their ancestors were native Ethiopians who converted to Judaism, they’re fully black lol. And they couldn’t even confirm the origins of the Ethiopian Jews so who knows if they’re even Jewish at all and just made it up?
