In Summary
  • If granted, Somalia’s prayers could also affect Kenya’s sea border with Tanzania.

Meanwhile, Kenya also has a date with the UN’s principal judicial organ, the ICJ, in the dispute between Nairobi and Somalia.

After ruling on February 2 that it had jurisdiction to adjudicate the dispute between Somalia and Kenya concerning maritime delimitation in the Indian Ocean and that Somalia’s application was admissible, ICJ fixed December 18 as the time-limit for the filing of the counter-memorial of Kenya in the case.

The counter memorial should have at least three parts namely statement of relevant facts, statement of law and submissions, and will be Kenya’s official response to the maritime dispute case filed by Somalia.

“Kenya’s counter-memorial will be filed on or before December 18,” Attorney-General Githu Muigai told the Sunday Nation, adding that the response would be a “bulky document”.

Somalia’s memorial, which is in four volumes, was filed on July 13, 2015. It sought the maritime boundary redrawn to extend diagonally to the south at Kiunga into the sea, and not eastwards as it is.

“The court is asked to determine, on the basis of international law, the complete course of the boundary dividing the maritime areas appertaining to Somalia and to Kenya in the Indian Ocean, including the continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles. Somalia also requests the court to determine the precise geographical co-ordinates of the single maritime boundary in the ocean,” Somalia said.

If granted, Somalia’s prayers could also affect Kenya’s sea border with Tanzania.

How do u think our case looks? :/

explain.....
Kenya don't have any leg to stand on, un law of the sea goes by whichever way the land ends at, in this case it's in our favor, Kenya's biggest excuse was calaacal on how they're helping us deal with AS and they deserve something in return (by taking our sea), but it ain't gonna happen

lets hope your right, and that the UN will favor in somalia side.. they have fucked us over with these stupid borders, least they can do is do right by us..

The world was never fair against us
whats more fucked up, is that once we get stability and a capable army, and say attack Ethiopia. You know how bad we will look in the eyes of the world..
i'm really beginning too believe we are cursed.. these kenyans did some kind of voodo on us...

Lets be honest sxb. We were always a threat to all of africa. Somali people have always been good at conquering dhul, even though our ancestors were less people than the habeshas bantus and oromos.
But hey we will regain nfd and somali galbeed soner or later. :manny:

Any attack on Kenya and Ethiopia should not even be entertained. We should take our time, secure our current borders and build. Make allies, once we are certain, then u simply start to arm rebells.

Guys btw the same experts (Foley HoagAttorneys)that helped Ghana easily beat Ivory coast on the maritime dispute are working on our side against kenya, it's gonna be an easy task for us because Ghana used their Continental shelf argument to beat Ivory coast

Coastal States have sovereign rights over the continental shelf (the national area of the seabed) for exploring and exploiting it; the shelf can extend at least 200 nautical miles from the shore, and more under specified circumstances. UN

as u can see the way the dotted lines end is how the maritime boarder is recognized by the IC

This is exactly how Ghana made their case and beat Ivory coast this past September. The pic above is what the judges unanimously concluded to.

if u look at our map above, Kenya has zero chance, the horizontal argument they're trying to make is all baseless, thats why their biggest argument they were trying to make was that they were helping Somalia beat AS.
