It seems the 2019 census was not conducted properly resource allocation was based on these numbers

Reer NFD needs to show out and help this census get conducted properly with acceptable statistics I believe the numbers will shock everybody Somalis at 5m across Kenya is my prediction

The data gathered in 2019, 2009 and probably before was bad and unusable. Its understandable why there isn’t accurate numbers gathered from NEP. Firstly, a bad security situation there, somali peoples suspiciousness towards the authorities and governments indifference towards the region.

Im also sceptical why a census is being conducted again. 3 possible reasons.

1) To get good data so somalis can more effectively help themselves.

2) Use the likely high population numbers to rile up xenophobia against somalis.

3) Somali officials want to embezzle more money from the government. The bigger the population, the more money it gets.

We know options 2 and 3 are the most likely.

Number 3 is most likely Lots of corruption with Somali politicians wouldn’t be surprised if local officials pocket a substantial amount of the development funds

@Step a side Walaal do you think the Kenyan gov is doing this to help Somalis in NFD. Nothing is going to really changed. No qabil is going to have a drastic change in numbers.
