What happened was that sometimes when the Darod fled the south in 1991 they will leave their kids behind in panic or othertimes in the chaos. This kids will get adopted by a local family. There are a lot of stories like that. She is one of those kids. It happened to our car convoy aswell after arriving in Kismayo a little girl had been left behind in a farming area 70 km north of the city. The mother was crying those times was crazy

That’s probably what happened. Why would anyone “kidnap” a kid during a war? She probably was separated from her family and another took her in. Weird how her accent sounds like she lived in Las Canod all her life.
