The anglo saxon tribes cane from southern Denmark, Northern Germany. After the romans left the island the wealthy native Celts didn't have armies and so they hired Anglo saxon mercenaries, overtime these anglos just took over and formed their own kingdoms. They would forcibly assimilate the celts over centuries which is why English has basically no celtic influence despite celtic blood still being widespread.

Irish are a separate island and maintained their celtic language until they got colonised by the English for a couple hundred years.

Also the British started a famine there in the 1800s which permanently stunted the Irish population which is why there's so few people in the island.

Scotland had their celtic language too but they got xooged by the English and forced to unite their kingdom with London to create the United Kingdom.

Irish, welsh and Scottish are all related, the English are odd one out for being germanic but they dominated Britain so long everyone is basically English with a different accent

Yeah Julius Caesar genocided 1/3 of modern France and then Enslaved a further 1/3.

The union of the crowns happened in 1603 but they still stayed two separate kingdoms until the Scottish nobles poured basically all of the countries wealth into trying to set up a colony in central America that failed which bankrupted Scotland and forced them to unite with England In 1707 to create the UK
