Most civil servants should be fired since they're pretty useless, do-nothing union workers but an Indian should not be saying that or have the power to do that.

I'm not a fan of the over-bloated, inefficient bureaucracy that plagues both Canada and the States, but if they fire them all, the unemployment rate will skyrocket and doesn't look like private enterprise will be hiring in mass like that either.

Yeah it is fake news and just a bigot rambling, he didn't get fired. He quit because he wants to run for elected office
“Vivek Ramaswamy played a critical role in helping us create DOGE,” Anna Kelly, a spokesperson for the commission, said in a statement. “He intends to run for elected office soon, which requires him to remain outside of DOGE, based on the structure that we announced today. We thank him immensely for his contributions over the last 2 months and expect him to play a vital role in making America great again.”

Lool.. You are the most right-wing black guy I've ever met..

Strong labour laws already exist. We're not in the 1800s anymore. They can bargain for their "rights" as individual employees if they're so amazing or another employer will hear them out. Doing you belong to a union? I suppose you do since you're in Denmark where almost everyone is so maybe its different there. Do you think it's fair that the most competent employees get the same pay increases and benefits as the worst ones who usually can't be fired because the union mafia protects them? Competent employees eventually leave you know. It demoralizes them. Unions are partly responsible for the west's decay.

They can go into self-employment or flip burgers until they get something better. Government has grown 40% here in the last 10 years but service has deteriorated. They shouldn't be getting paycheques for poor outcomes or doing literally nothing. Unemployment is part of life. Most government jobs are just a welfare program for very below average diploma/degree holders. I don't think that's fair.

lol you immediately went to the knee jerk reaction of start a business or flip burgers.

First of all for self-employment if one doesn't have tangible skills (which most govie workers don't have) it'll be infinitely harder to launch a successful business. The welders/plumbers/it workers can potentially work for themselves, but I don't see how a paper pushing government bureaucrat can. Not to mention, it would be exponentially harder for a Canadian individual to start a business than an American one.

As for flipping burgers or any other lower level retail job, forget about it! Not only would they get a fraction of the pay for those jobs, but they'd also be competing with nepotistic immigrants, I don't need to tell you how that goes out here in Canada.

Lots of competent former government workers have their own businesses. Also, mininum wage jobs are opening up everywhere now. They aren't in competition anymore with them.

If someone can only get a $15-20 hr job, then that's what they're worth. Not everyone deserves more...

My friend a lot of these government workers are making above 70k/year and have been there for years. They've planned and built their life based around their income. They've also been conditioned into not developing professionally, to remove their jobs because of shitty government planning would be malicious to say the least. I know several people that work for the federal government here in Edmonton, these guys have been cozy in their positions for 5+ years and haven't progressed in anything. There's no way these people would be able to a viable worker outside of basic retail jobs.

Also as a consequence of them losing their jobs, this would heavily impact the economy a large consumer base will now be removed. These guys make a solid chunk of the middle class of the country. :francis:

Either way I couldn't care less, I'm just calling it what it is.

In knowing that he could not sit in a powerful/influential position within Trump's cabinet in the White House, mainly owing to political inexperience, Vivek Ramaswamy, reading the room, opted out for an elected office role to raise his public profile to maintain relevance also cultivating ground level feedback. This is a PR maneuver after getting the reality check of, "We don't actually act the way we speak in public behind closed doors," realizing he fully drank the Kool-aid. At least he was insightful enough to know he was played. Some people sit on the back burner for years doing nothing while appearing busy.

This reflects how the Trump cabinet might want to seek the reduction of inciteful far-right rhetoric for a more traditional Republicanist classical liberal stance. It's obvious Vivek realized he was too extreme for how the government runs in reality and wants to possibly move his position closer to the Overton window while running for elect, shifting ideology to something that allows for climbing the ladder.
