Madow hair is underrated (Bring Back the Afro rant)

I have 3c/4a afro hair which I got from my abo, he had an Afro just like that back in Somalia

I used to really dislike my hair but I’ve come to accept it.
I do get lots of compliments on my hair especially when I wear it in a curly fro

^this is not me but my hair is very similar
You got any tips? My hair is currently very short. How do I improve & define the curls? So far I’ve used a wide tooth comb + leave in conditioner. It helps a lot. On the first day the curls are defined. But the next day the curls are less visible and the definition starts disappearing.

What would you recommend to do? I’m open to any tips. I want to ensure my curls are defined & visible throughout my hair journey, inshallah.

for reference, my hair is slightly shorter than this guy. How would I get my curls defined like this?

On a related note, why do people here complain about Somali kids being forced to have short hair? Every Somali kid I know has medium to long hair. I’ve only seen 3 kids with short hair. You guys must still be living in the 2000s or something. I know plenty Somali guys that have hair that reached their shoulders, mashallah. Even at the mosque, they usually have their hair long & curly or they grow out their hair & get dreads.
Hi, this is the internet where you have people from various cities, states, nations and continents congregating to share their experiences! Where I live, it's the same as you have described with Somali fellas embracing their natural hair but it is important to take into consideration that people live different experiences that influence their world view in such a way that is drastically different from yours. I hope this helped!

You need to use gel after the leave in conditioner if you want lasting curl definition.

I’ve tried many gels and this is my favourite. It gives great definition without making hair dry and stiff. You can get it from any beauty supply store.

As someone who has struggled to have an Afro unless it goes frizzy and dry, I eventually accepted my confused type 2c - 3b hair, I've only started to take care of it once I stopped using shampoo, my curly/wavy hair has thanked me, I just don't go short or else it starts to look like early 2000's Justin Timberlake cut. :mjlol:
