Massacre in Gambella. Anyuak militias murder Nuer children.

@Nilotic

How bad is the ethnic animosity is South Sudan? I thought it mostly died down

The animosity is bad and is made all the worse by self-interested politicians; the main war (between the Dinka & Nuer) has ended, but there are small conflicts between the Nuer and the Anyuak; and between the Murle and the Nuer.

The Nuer have been encroaching on Anyuak lands for decades and have taken an area the size of Qatar from them; this area will obviously have to be returned to the Anyuak in the future.

I understand Anyuak anger, but they don't respond in acceptable ways amongst our people... by announcing an intention to wage war and going about it...

..The Anyuak tend to attack non-military targets and cry out when the Nuer respond with direct violence against their positions.

I don't understand why Juba would instruct the Anyuak to attack the Nuer in Gambella (Ethiopia) and bypass Akobo in South Sudan.

So are you Dinka or nuer

So are you Dinka or nuer

I'm Dinka, bro

@mohammdov we got our tribalism and violence nature from our Nilotic ancestry.

:drakelaugh::mjlol:

That's not fair, mate; what about the Natufian side?

The use of violence (when necessary) keeps you alive and allows you to maintain your territorial integrity and the dignity of your people; we just need to learn to moderate it, saaxib

Do south Sudanese people memorise the names of their fore fathers, for lineages and clan purposes?

Yes, lineage is very important in Nilotic cultures; people take great pride in recounting their ancestral lines for many generations.

@Nilotic what will it take for Africans to develop behavioural modernity, gene editing or some kind of natural selection through evolution ?

A society can only do things like gene editing when it has become extremely wealthy; and even then, it would be restricted to the 1% of that society.

I think it makes more sense to adopt and teach Stoic philosophies; and to give an outlet to violence through martial arts, like Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.

Debate is also great, especially because you can train people to keep their cool and not exchange in personal insults.
