Massive berbera port growth ?

Can somebody explain to me what's behind this massive growth at the berbera port. Especially when it somehow doubled in 2020 ( a pandemic year) ? And then the large increase again in 2024 right after the lascannod battles stopped ? @Idilinaa

Berbera is a regional port (Ethiopian trade potentially South sudan too) not just a national port like Mogadishu.

Recent UAE investment etc increasing capacity.

Berbera can handle a lot more.

I don't have a probelm with that at all economic growth in any region is good jn my book.

But the uae dp port opened in 2021 and the greatest increases in berbera port where in 2020 and last year this is really strange because those are the years you wouldn't expect their to be kufh growth. I can accept 2024 if it's maybe ethiopia rerouting more exports because of the mou thing.

But the 2020 increase is really suspicious since you wouldn't expect the number of ships to double the year the entire world went on lockdown.
