Meet Hawo Tako the most badass sub Saharan African female anti colonial figure

How come all the feminists on here never talk about this woman?

She was just 28 years old when she was killed by reer habanero sauce though her geesinimo and intelligence was quite arousing. If it wasn’t for sacrifice italians would still be ruling italiana Somalia today.

Can anyone give more details about her how she started anti colonial campaign and everything? Fadlan adigoo mudan.

But she was killed defending the Italians. In 1948, the British brought their soldiers from the north and They told them to expel the Italians from the city The Italians do not want the unity of Somalis under one rule then they attack the Italians. perhaps 100 Italians and some Somalis who were with the Italians killed And she was one of them

Its Ramadan can you pls stop with your lies. My own grandfather was part of the SYL and killed Italians on that faithful day because he thought his sister also named xawo another SYL member was killed and not Xawo Tako. There was the commission to place all of somalia under British mandate, pro Italia protests, and a counter SYL protest that wanted a free and united Somalia and they clashed Xawo Tako was Part of the SYL protest.

Fifty Somalis were killed that day for helping the Italians. This is what happened, and the evidence and source are in front of you
Gossip It doesn't matter

I'm talking about how she was killed while supporting the Italians
This is what happened syl. They were holding demonstrations to bring back the Italians, so the British sent some somalis to them to kill them, and that is how xawo taako killed and the other Somalis and Italians. https://italiacoloniale.com/2021/05...cidio-di-mogadiscio-nei-ricordi-di-anna-azan/

The SYL requested the final day, when a public rally would be held on January 11, 1948, to demonstrate against the possible return of Somalia to Italy under a United Nations trusteeship.84 Supporters assembled in Mogadishu in large numbers the morning of January 11, SYL organizers having scrapped plans to begin the demonstra- tion at their headquarters and walk to the designated protest area.85 Demonstrators chanted nationalist slogans and poetry, waved flags, and wore the red armband that identified SYL membership.86 Women went door to door, encouraging Somalis still at home to come out and show their support.87 Several of the Sisters stayed behind at the Somali Youth League headquarters nearby, including Hawa Taako and Halimo Godane, as did the men of the Central Committee who were not meeting with the Four Power delegation.88 First to come under attack was the SYL headquarters, where Italians armed with weapons attempted to set the building on fire. Mohamed Hirsi Nur, one of the thirteen founding members, was killed when he stood in the doorway to ask the men to leave. Upon hearing his yells, Taako came to his aid with a club she had found in the room, before she too was “speared through the heart.” Demonstrators were met with bullets, hand gre- nades, and arrows as the unauthorized Italian community and its sup- porters “thronged in lorry loads into the town.”89 Within two hours, 51 Italians and 17 Somalis had been killed, countless numbers injured, the city placed under military curfew, and many thrown into prison camps as the British Military Administration attempted to contain the vio- lence and looting. She literally died fighting Italians and pro Italia somali coons who came from 11 organizations made by Italians to keep somalis divided and under Italian control for another 30 years.

@mohammdov

There is hardly any proof that she existed, let alone proof that she worked for the Italians. Also, your sources are incredibly sketchy and from a blog.

Where are Xawo Takos family now? Like her children or her siblings kids ect.

What was her qabil?

She’s shrouded in too much mystery for me to believe she existed. 1948 isn’t a long time ago. My grandfather was in Xamar around that time in his 20s. So it’s literally most of our grandparents lifetime yet we hardly know any details about her. Where are her neighbors? The people who knew her?

My grand parents knew her personally so I dont doubt that she existed, her family I have no idea, second as someone who hates qabil it means nothing to me but she was Jidwaq

Nice to come across someone whose family actually knew her. At the end of the day, there is hardly any information about her, hence @mohammdov should fear Allah about spreading stuff found on an Italian blog.

May Allah bless her pure soul. She was from the pure Absame race May Allah preserve her blessed soul. She was Abaasguul Jidwaaq.

@mohammdov what’s your clan?🤔 iisheeg qabiilkaga then I’d understand better on why you’re lying about Absame history.

Yeah Italy was broke after ww2 we would’ve got a lot more development under the British. Also the Bevin plan would’ve had a much higher chance of coming to fruition, interestingly enough this was the same year the British gave the Ogaden to Ethiopia. Moreover the British would’ve most likely at least gave us mfd maybe even doctors but French Somali land is a different question No doubt if we were under their mandate they probably wouldn’t have done such a thing. It would’ve also destroyed secessionists and it would’ve been much easier to integrate the north with the south as their would be one currency and the government system may have been a lot different

Thank you for telling me the langaabyaal hide when I ask them for their qabiil for some reason they’re very insecure. In the case of the idoor, their history is being a dabodhilif for the British Ethiopians or maybe even arabs as I’ve seen a lander on this website praise arabs. That’s it, no history. It’s really understandable tbh Absame produced a female hero forget having a female hero the idoor race don’t even have a male hero😂 Absame male was responsible for creating the most fearsome anti colonial resistance while an Absame female put a stop to the Italian rule of Mogadishu.

I'd estimate 90% of recorded history is embellished, exaggerated, or straight up fiction.

It doesn't really matter if she was real or not, if she fought for or against the Italians, or any of that nonsense. She's now a powerful feminist symbol of independence. Her story serves a purpose more important than historical accuracy or any other nonsense.

History is extremely malleable :icon lol:

They aren’t used to seeing a Somali resistance fighter or anything related to “resistance” that’s why they’re surprised and are trying to falsify our history in the nature of the idoor he’s very submissive he’d welcome any Europeans that land their boats at Saylac. I doubt he’s a fob though the ones back home are quite about history they don’t discuss it or try to falsify it he’s from the diaspora for sure.
