The SYL requested the final day, when a public rally would be held on January 11, 1948, to demonstrate against the possible return of Somalia to Italy under a United Nations trusteeship.84 Supporters assembled in Mogadishu in large numbers the morning of January 11, SYL organizers having scrapped plans to begin the demonstra- tion at their headquarters and walk to the designated protest area.85 Demonstrators chanted nationalist slogans and poetry, waved flags, and wore the red armband that identified SYL membership.86 Women went door to door, encouraging Somalis still at home to come out and show their support.87 Several of the Sisters stayed behind at the Somali Youth League headquarters nearby, including Hawa Taako and Halimo Godane, as did the men of the Central Committee who were not meeting with the Four Power delegation.88 First to come under attack was the SYL headquarters, where Italians armed with weapons attempted to set the building on fire. Mohamed Hirsi Nur, one of the thirteen founding members, was killed when he stood in the doorway to ask the men to leave. Upon hearing his yells, Taako came to his aid with a club she had found in the room, before she too was “speared through the heart.” Demonstrators were met with bullets, hand gre- nades, and arrows as the unauthorized Italian community and its sup- porters “thronged in lorry loads into the town.”89 Within two hours, 51 Italians and 17 Somalis had been killed, countless numbers injured, the city placed under military curfew, and many thrown into prison camps as the British Military Administration attempted to contain the vio- lence and looting. She literally died fighting Italians and pro Italia somali coons who came from 11 organizations made by Italians to keep somalis divided and under Italian control for another 30 years.
SYL was created by the British

They aren’t used to seeing a Somali resistance fighter or anything related to “resistance” that’s why they’re surprised and are trying to falsify our history in the nature of the idoor he’s very submissive he’d welcome any Europeans that land their boats at Saylac. I doubt he’s a fob though the ones back home are quite about history they don’t discuss it or try to falsify it he’s from the diaspora for sure.
don’t do him like that 😔😔😔

SYL was created by the British
The Somali Youth Club was founded on May 15, 1943, in Mogadishu, initially serving as an urban self-help group. Membership was restricted to Somalis aged 18 to 32, mainly comprising the emerging "middle class," such as private traders and young men with monthly salaries. The British viewed the club favorably, though they expressed concern about the members' oath, which forbade revealing clan affiliation and emphasized solely Somali identity, contradicting the British principle of indirect rule through clans. British didn't create the club or have anything to do with the creation of the SYL but they did support them over an Italian administration after the war.

It was created by the support of the British who wanted to incorporate the occupied territory under their protectorate in Greater Somali land excluding Djibouti which was a French colonial territory

She was protecting the Italian settlers kkk
First, your agenda is clear. The Somali Youth League (SYL) was formed during British rule not by the British, second Xawo Tako, an SYL member, was fighting for the Italians be for real . Your narrative, which seems biased and malicious, is evident.
The Mogadishu riot of 1948 is often recalled as "ha noolaato," a rallying cry uttered by a man as conflict erupted, urging Somalis on opposing sides to unite against the Italians rather than fighting each other. "It was the day the Somali people became one," recounted one of the SYL women. With the bravery of Hawa Taako's sacrifice and remarkably fewer Somali casualties despite an armed ambush, the event has taken on a near-mythical status in memory.

In Italian records it says she was protecting the Italian settlers from the rioters

Really??Can you provide me with Italian records from the 40s
The day ended with 54 Italians and 14 Somalis killed. Among these Somalis in Mogadishu was Hawo Tako , married to an Italian lorry driver, who lost her life trying to stop the massacre and protect the Italians , as well as the other Somalis who lost their lives.
To get some details on that tragic day I interviewed Abdullahi Elmi Shurie who clarifies the situation for us:
"What is known for sure is that that barbaric massacre was wanted by the English who used people brought from Somaliland to show that the Somalis hated the Italians. Which is not true because that day many Somalis, maids, guardians, workers, drivers etc. died to defend the Italians of Mogadishu, even if no one ever remembered them".

“The woman depicted – continues Shurie – is pierced by an arrow and as we know that day many of the Somalis who killed the Italians were armed with bows and arrows”.
