I think it’s due to a combination of strict parenting and being neglected due to large families.they have to take into consideration local and worldy customs as you do in islam (when it comes to non fard) slavery is halal because it was the custom to own slaves for most of the world when wars were fought and prisoners of wars were enslaved, and the islamic obligation is fair treatment and encouragement to free the slaves.

The only reason why slavery was permissible during the early Islamic Ages and subsequent towards that, was due to the amount of toil labor that must be done, and the indolence of others (mainly merchants, kings, etc), who thought of menial labor as 'low caste' and degrading for working-class citizens to do.
As of now, slavery in modern society is not needed, since there are many other technological advancements (tractors, farming equipment, vacuums, etc) that already fulfill the main duties of a working slave. Forcing someone in to enslavement in modern times is only done in the act of cruelty and with the intention to mentally & physically torment others.

yes but you got to be more specific when making such statement, its a big difference to a slave of war (you fought, lost a battle and youre now a slave) and a slave who happened to be born a slave. jails are basically slavery but rebranded though you got a good point.
