I was just discussing this with my father the other day, he flew back, on how we should really invest in rejuvenating forests, one example is gacan libaax, forests can really play a part in regenerating the ecosystem.

Reading the books written 100 years ago by the British gives you a glimpse of the environment back then, fig trees were in abundance in and around the sheekh area, growing in the wild.

That is true. NGOS like Candlelight (headed by Shukri Xaaji Bandare) planted many trees in Gacanlibaax forest. The same can be
done in other areas that suffered deforestation for the past decades.

I agree. I have cousins that know Swahili (they are also HY) I am planning to take them to the villages and towns of Sanaag to get in touch with their ancestral lands.

Good to see. Horta I don't trust any of the official gudida abaaraha in any of the regions. We keep seeing youtube vids of hebel and hebel donating a large sum to the gudi and yet we have no idea where that money ends up. Also, it's a damn shame that every single year we have to be raising money for the droughts when it could easily be dealt with by proper prevention and storing water. At least the xumboweyne dam is a good development, there needs to be more.
