Makeup has always existed in the past, but it wasn't the normal for a man to see every single woman to have some kind of makeup and his expectations for a woman to look like one with the best makeup on.

A man in the past would see a woman who is beautiful without makeup on and he would consider beautiful but now in this generation we have normalised an unrealistic beauty standard we consider a normal pretty girl as ugly

This only harms woman anyway because its their husbands and boyfriends who are looking at these woman

The vast majority of Somalis are dark skin and this shitty roster is nothing but light skin and bleachers . SAD

The most famous Somali beauties were dark skin but guess what ? They got discovered while being in the west …

The beautiful Iman has even said at one point …
Because of her skin colour she wouldn’t have been considered a beauty standard in Somalia the way the western world sees her.

While I was in Somalia .. the prettiest most stunning girls were the darker skin and brown skin women …
While the light skin women were all the rage… me and my father agreed that the darker skinned ones.. especially when tall and slim were top tier beauties.

In the western world…
When I was there and showed them beauty commercials that had dark skin black womens …

They were all shocked. I swear wlalahi I would show pictures of various black women…

Kelly Rowland … Lupita Nyongo… they all said they were ugly smh.
That’s when I knew colourism affected them that greatly, that they can’t see beyond skin tone shade. Smh.

Not just most Indians. Most women of color. You'll find just as many Somali girls with great facial structures with eyebags. Totally normal. I think @Taij4an has a point here. We've become so used to flawless faces that we now look at a clearly beautiful woman with a bit of hyperpigmentation and think unattractive.

I disagree. Woman can literally look completely different without makeup, they can trick people into making themselves look pretty.
I can't believe we normalised women facepainting and winning a competition with something that isn't even their face
at the end of the day it only harms women bc it increases their insecurity issues because their ideal of beauty by the world is something that doesn't even exist

I agree, I’d also say dark skin women wouldn’t even be able to have such terrible makeup like these ladies do & still be deemed as beautiful. I will say however that miss Somalia girl from Idaho was pretty and it had nothing to do with her makeup nor her being light.

@Angelina i personally think the problem with this Miss Somalia is Somalis back home don’t know how to do makeup. It’s infuriating because you’d think with the titkok culture that’s blowing up there, Somali makeup artists would be a big thing.

I guess they just don’t have as much access to the same products.

Three things I really dislike about Somalia’s standards are bleaching, eye brows, guys loving fat women and makeup.

I personally blame the guys given women tend to mould themselves into what they want. And it’s clear light skin and fat bodies are preferable over the things we prioritise like facial structure, slim/athletic bodies etc.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them liking fat women.I just think it makes you uncomfortable because you’re so use to the modern western ideals of skinny= beauty. I am surprised they still view fat as beautiful tho bc when I was in jabouti a few years ago they were shaming fat people.

No, Somali women have been always thin, it is not a western thing. Somali men have imported that western African/African-American beauty standards as ideal now.
