My Aunts and Uncles speak Italian, they even taught their kids Italian before Somali. My Aabo is the only one who speaks Arabic and went to an Arabic school, and later learned English,

Are you part talyani, or were your uncles and aunts raised in a convent? Those are the only people I know who speak Italian as a first language.

Do you speak Italian?

My family speaks Italian fluently. My mother, uncles, aunts and granny. I understand Italian but I can't have conversation with it.

My family only speak Italian because we live there and go there often, amongst somalis it's rare to see them speak at native level nowadays.

No they don't. I know people associate south somalia to Italy a lot, but most people my parents age and older were educated in English/arabic only a some were educated in italian as well as university was in italian. No one cares about Italian, only those who have a connection to Italy itself still speak Italian.
Speak for yourself:mjpls:

Nope. One of my cousin's in one-eighth Italian though. One of my relatives was raised in a convent; I don't know about the rest quite honestly. I recall one of them saying they went to a Catholic Missionary school.

Yeah, they do go there quite often. I think some of my cousins were born there.

Did they live in Italy?
Yeah couple of my family members on my mother's side lived there. My granny actually lived there for 13 years. And so did my father.

My mother's side of the family lived in Italy before the civil war. My dad also lived in Italy for couple of years back in the 1970s. They speak natively and even my siblings and I picked up on it, I understand most of the things they say but I can't hold a conversation.
