Is this a potential 'drainage' system for the roads where the water on the road will be channelled to this catchment? If that is the case, that is brilliant idea as the water can be re-used for other purposes.

Yeah, they recently completed a few around the City before the rains started.

It is, but the design seems inadequate. I hope they have back up plans and other "pools" to channel when this basin is full so it wont damage the surrounding area.

This is great news. No more health hazards, malaria, and all that crappy diseases that come from waterborne filth. Cause only bakhti come where 'water and sand' mix. Only bacteria develops in such disgusting earthly soups lol. Kids fall over on it while playin, then pass it around eventually. Or the livestock is drinking bacteria borne water if it's not 'disinfected' the 'dams' in PL, it's gonna lead to huge outbreak of disease.

These kind of big projects being carried out by Somali engineers and construction company is very rare, since AS attack most who do so. My relatives are in that industry and they never do so because AS has killed a lot of engineers in Xamar. I believe that the reward for killing engineers is second only to killing MPs/militayr officials. Somali engineers are scarce and very valuable in the capital and the south in general. As much as I like Mogadishu and other state capitals rebuilding, i would also like to see other towns being rebuilt as well- Insha'allah soon though.
