I don't think that's what she's criticising. She's criticising brothers who grow up and immediately assume they have authority over the women in the house, even when their older. This is less common in Somali households though, I see it mostly in asian and arab households. Somali households don't really care about what their women do after they grow up.

I don't think that brothers have the right to do that. Parents get the final say. And If the person is grown let them make their own decisions.
