If they were not getting a commercial port and only a naval port like people were saying then it was a bad deal for Ethiopia because they were giving up airline shares. If they are getting a commercial port or not, shifts the balance of the deal. Also the deal includes utilization of Berbera which means employment, immediate cash and economic integration in Somaliland.
The Turkey deal is giving up 30% of potentially multiple billions for exactly what? A navy that Somalia isn't even ready for? Fighting off illegal fishing? Really it's about fighting Ethiopia. Somalia became a protectorate with this colonial deal.
Actions like these make Somaliland look like relative geniuses.
You are talking about us giving up billions from an industry that’s most likely a net loss at the moment to the government. They would have to build the industry to profit from it.
