Expand please

An Isaaq President would be far more feasible than two federal states, one composed of Gadabursi/Isaaq/Harti with relatively small territory and one composed of dozens of clans spanning from Bosaso to Kismayo.

Power sharing must be representative and equitable. To assuage any fears of the sort of marginalization Somalilanders feel they faced under former governments, I would move the capital to Somaliland itself.

After a few generations of peace and the rapid development I'm sure the Somalis are capable of, our culture itself will evolve beyond organizing along clan lines.

Clan ties exist only to fill the vacuum of legitimate statehood and to ensure access to scarce resources in an astoundingly impoverished society.

This is what will eventually happen. A confederated country with two soverign entities, north and south. Basically a political union like Belgium or Switzerland. The only thing that would be coordinated would be defense and foreign policy. The name would go back to being Somali Republic not Somalia.

The problem is that most people in the south still want to see a unitary state, which is not happening anytime soon. I would sign a confederation deal today if it meant maintaining the borders we had in 1991.

Don't forget ciise, jaarso, minorities. Fact is the clan distribution is about the same.

This is the only way to revive the Republic, otherwise it is the current status.

I already said move the capital to ceerigabo, a level headed, strategic place. my two fed state resolution is the only representative sharing. If course there would be an agreement that the same qabiil doesnt come to power everytime

I like the idea of Erigavo being the capital.

It has a cool climate due to being near the mountains. Something like 22C year-round, rarely gets over 30C like with Mogadishu or Hargeisa.

Also, Sanaag is one of the least populated provinces of Somalia. So for security reasons it would be easy to control and it would bring a boost to the economy of that region.

I agree, if there is to be a union then Reer waqooyi won't be mugged off this time. Unitary system isn't wise

thegoodsheperd's idea is much better. Supreme authority would still lie with a federal goverment in a federal system, while a confederate one will allow true equal status. No one can dominate the other.

Somaliland and Somalia will not unite again. When Somalia pulls it's self out of the slums, one of two things will happen and the decision is up to Somalia.
1. Complete war
2. Agree to separate

Somalia(Ras Casayr to Ras Kambooni) can bulkanize into 1 million states it still wont change the fact. The case for SL is one that will make it's way to the international courts in due time. It has nothing to do with clan x or clan y etc. We all know the historical background of the union, and unless the majority populace of SL agrees to reunify(Which they never will), "The Somali Republic" coming back is nothing but a pipe dream

Communique released by Somali national consultative forum that took place two days ago with regards to election model for 2016. These two paragraphs have confirmed participation of Somaliland in the 2016 election in which elders of Somaliland from six main tribes will select their own MPs and location of their choice that hopefully will be rubber stamped by Siilanayo.

You believe what comes out of xamar? They put isaaq under dir in the 4.5 system to limit their representation:lol:. People can write or riddle to themselves what they want, SL & Somalia for better or for worse will never unite:damedamn:

f*ck that shit! divide Somalia into pieces, let each clan carve out its own destiny.

Its not an equal Union, so its gonna work.

Several reasons it won't work:

-Isaaqs who support SL make up 10-15% of the population. So why should they get 50% of anything and be treated as equal?

-The Waqooyi Galbeed lands is about 1/3rd the size.

You will be recognized as a Gobal Maamuleed, if anything. Other wise good luck with the Ictiraaf.

Any evidence to back this up.

Hawiye for example have only city Mogadishu and one xaafad in Galkacyo, does that mean they shouldn't get presidency.

Secondly it is 50/50 between north (somaliland) and south (somalia), it isn't isaaq or hawiye but the clans that live in those regions.
