@AbdiJohnson The amount of capital in Banadir compared to other states is simply astounding. The difference is mind boggling.
The rest of the country is like 20 years behind Mogadishu in almost all aspects.

@Thegoodshepherd how many people live in Banadir? Let's say 20% of Somalia citizens lives there. Do you believe alot more than 20% of private investment is spent there?

Probably not. Somalis will invest where their clan resides even if the return isn't that great. This is where they feel their investment is most secure.

There's 2 reasons banaadir is what it is. Number 1 is population, 2nd reason is all international wealth goes there since mogadishu is the official capital of The Somali Republic....niggaz in xamar got the world Bank as caydh:francis:

Much more than 20% of private investment goes to Mogadishu, I would say closer to 40%. Mogadishu has first mover advantage over all other Somali towns. There will never be a Somali city as big or developed as Mogadishu. The only city that can maybe replicate a little of Mogadishu is Kismayo which is geographically very similar, but even it will probably not reach half the size of Mogadishu. Hargeisa could have been a possibility but it is located in a water scarce setting and is inland.

Are Banadir Somalis more likely to return home and invest?

If the shit-hole Somalia rulers have any goodwill for the future of the hell-hole then they would've came up with a new policy of " if you build a hotel with more than 20 bedrooms then by law you must build another one one in any other province of your choice, same goes for shopping malls ".

The bastards can't see what is on the horizon. I rapid further breakdown of the hell-hole as people are getting fed up with Xamar getting all the artificial make up

I would say yes. Diaspora Somalis from Banadir know they can maintain an ok level of living standards, while others know that they cannot maintain an ok standard of living in their home town. I'm from Galkacyo, which is a pretty good place by Somali standards, but I know if I move there it will be very very expensive to maintain an ok standard. This is why if I ever live in Somalia I would rather live in Kismayo than in Galkacyo.

I went to Mogadishu two years ago and I can honestly say it's a no-go-zone for anybody seeking a civilized life.
It's not the rubble and ruin—which effects about 90% of Mogadishu from what I observed—but the people.
It's not that they're hutu---although tbh that is a problem---but its the fact that about 1/3rd of Mogadishu/Benadir residents suffer from serious PTSD and other mental issues.
Mogadishu has seen by far the highest levels of sustained violence in the civil war, and its impacts are very clear and noticeable.
Unless you're trying to get stabbed by a khat-high, mentally unstable former USC mooriyan--or if not that, blown up by Al Shabaab---, I would suggest you take your investments elsewhere.
