The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is not part of the city :pachah1: . The city is a small area in central London.

Yeah I know but the corporation (not the tory central govt) paid for the flats:

The 68 one, two and three bed flats have been bought by the City of London Corporation in response to the tragedy and handed to Kensington and Chelsea Borough Council for 'long term' social housing.

Its not like the city has any space + the government's response is still lacking/shit for a 1st world nation.:pachah1:

Nothing to do with landmarks and other nonsense just like you tried to imply. They did out of their
own good.

:manny:

I wonder if this will inspire more buildings being burned down?
some people would kill for those apartments? or flats as yall call it over there.

This is the opposite of gentrification.

Feel sorry for what they've been through but imagine you spent 2 million on the apartment next door to a Somali family of 10 :damn:.

It doesn't matter.

Why should a family(s) who lived in Kensington/zone 1 all their life be moved to the outer edges of London for no fault of their own?

Literally the Tory government and local council's (Kensington & Chelsea) response is shocking that it took the city of London corp to pay out of good will.

All of them will vote tories forever.

@SecretAgent the corporations representative's are elected via an archaic system completely removed from typical elections.

Most of the votes in the city go to big businesses (makes sense since the city of London is filled with employees than residents) and the elected representatives/aldermans of the wards are independent for the most part, however, they can align with a main stream party hence why (parts of) the city of London is labour held (excl independent wards).

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Labour party won a record five seats in the City of London elections on Thursday, in a breakthrough for the party and a challenge to the centuries-old political independence of the country's financial district.

The results will come as good news for Labour, the main opposition party led by veteran socialist Jeremy Corbyn, as nationwide polls have shown it lagging far behind the ruling Conservatives.

Labour fielded eight candidates for the authority's 100-seat lower house - standing against bankers, lawyers and accountants - and won five seats. It pledged to spend more of the area's vast wealth on residents rather than on lobbying for financial services.
