Palestinians online: "Anywhere is better than Somalia. They are a starving people"

It's a power dynamic. You see the true nature of how a country treats immigrants when the immigrants are poor and in need. Lebanese in west Africa have money and business so they get treated well. If they were poor refugees things would be different .
Syrians and Yemenis in Somalia with some exceptions are mostly poor , they still get treated well because our society is generally hospitable and generous with guests, also especially with syrians there's a positive idea since Syria was probably the kindest Arab country towards Somali refugees
Yeah, Syria has a lot of racism too but they treated our refugees decently well. I hear Yemen is a mixed bag though? There was some good amd some downright evil behaviour.

I hate it though. The people who go to our continent hold racist views and still profit off the kindness of these good hearted people. Madows are the most decent people if you think about it. Though a bit too kind for my tastes.

If we pooled our resources and manpower things would change, you just need to look at the 1970's, we are cursed people, as long as we continue to have these incompetent leadership, until HSM gets the boot there won't be any progress in PL/SL including the Alkeebab strong hold down south.

Our private sector is a lot more competent, we need better ways of managing external control within Somalia.
The only logical explanation for our predicament is that we are cursed, there is no other explanation that can be offered, and this is a collective curse up and down the country, the entire ethnicity is cursed, this includes all the tribes.

Look at Djibouti, with all the wealth that came there way and opportunities, the stability, the peace, the strategic position, they had everything to be competing with Khaleeji countries, yet you see were they are today.

Look at S/land and P/land, huge tribal demographic favour that ensured they escaped much of the conflicts and bloodshed in the south while in possession of strategic ports, but what do they have to show for it after almost 4 decades now ? marginally better will not cut it, the expectation is a 100x if not at least 50x, even greater for Djibouti, yet the differences are negligible.

Go to NFD in Kenya, the most impoverished area in the country, Somali Galbeed not much difference, what about the Somali's in the diaspora ? not a single billionaire among them, I can't even name a single one that has at least 100 million to their name, they are collectively a NET negative drain in each western country they inhabit, known for scamming the system.

The country has been Leading the corruption index for 30 years straight, ranking at the bottom for the least amount of paved roads and infrastructure in the world, highest electricity cost in the world.

You won't find a single outlier or success story, therefore you can't conclude anything other then it being a collective curse we need to seek collective repentance from, but we are very far away from that realisation, the fake pride and Kibir is just too strong.

You can do a population and nation swap with China, and within a decade we will turn China to Somalia, while the Chinese will do the reverse with Somalia, because the greatest resource a nation has is its people, and we simply don't have that, so it doesn't matter who the president is, he can be the greatest man in the world, but he can't do anything when the most basic resource is not available to him.

You are talking about the past. Now they have none of that and they are far worse than Somalia is currently. Their homeland has been destroyed now they are refugees. Also I have lived back home for 2 years maybe it’s where you are from but the city I lived in I only have good words for it. Don’t lump us with your self hating nonsense.
The entire country is a shi*** hole, if you have nothing but good words to say as you indicate with your post, then your expectations and ambitions are abysmal, and that explains our current predicament.

What can I expect from a person back home, when someone that grew up in a 1st world diaspora nation, is happy and content with a third world nation that ranks at the bottom in every conceivable metric.

You probably never even thought about how to improve that sh** hole and the steep challenges you will face from society itself (forget government/militias), because if you did, you wouldn't have spoken like this.

Just happy to receive that monthly check from the diaspora and content with having a superior life then the locals in that shii*** hole, typical, again nothing more then an extended privileged holiday but more likely a forced Dhagan Celis, which explains everything.

We shouldn't generalize. Some people had very bad experiences in Yemen while some told me they were treated as locals and not even immigrants. It really depends on individual experiences. Unfortunately you'll find racism among all people and nations in the world

They are being treated like native Americans land and heritage being erased. Somalia for all its issues we still have future and 2 countries to call our own. We can’t compare suffering between us it’s not in same realm. When they not being genocided they being humiliated and houses stolen . We should pray for them and be thankful we not going through same

I'm religious myself but I believe the term for this is religious delusions. We aren't cursed. Every nation has experienced difficulties even worse than ours.

We could easily attribute our issues to things such as foreign interference. Collective trauma and corruption. Many other afrucan countries are in the same predicament.

This defeatist mentality is why we won't progress too. You should be finding a way to either better your life or your country's. Not calling yourself cursed and dragging us all into your delusions.

Yes that's why I said a mixed bag. I have heard more bad than good. Though I hear most of this diwcrimation started post war.

Somalia must break free from the curse of dependency on foreign aid and instead focus on strengthening its economy through business and self-sufficiency. While aid may provide short-term relief, it fosters a cycle of reliance that hinders long-term progress. The private sector in Somalia is already thriving, demonstrating that the country has the entrepreneurial spirit and economic potential to sustain itself.

With vast agricultural land, a long coastline rich in marine resources, and untapped mineral wealth, Somalia has the means to be self-sufficient in food production and economic development. By investing in infrastructure, modernizing farming techniques, and supporting local industries, Somalia can ensure that no child, mother, or elderly person goes hungry.

Encouraging entrepreneurship, trade, and investment rather than relying on external assistance will empower Somalis to take control of their own future. Strengthening local businesses, improving access to markets, and fostering innovation can drive sustainable growth, creating jobs and reducing poverty. A nation built on self-reliance and economic independence will be far more resilient to external pressures and better equipped to provide for its people.

Honestly we should be obsessed with our own nation. Our own people need pity. Nations progress because of diehard nationalism and pride like that not kindness and decency.

Somalia young country not even 70 years old. Europe has had wars that killed millions that sometimes last 30-100 years and killed half of some nations like Germany. Some wars in China and Spain 2 hundreds years plus. We are young race and nation that is at mercy of Ethiopians right now . It’s bad predicament but not hopeless

If we didn't have animals in charge we could have used the financial aid to help the country develop and find ways to become financially independent instead of an addiction to free money. What Remittance ks good I don't think people realise that will end within a generation.

For example, I'm 2nd gen diaspora. I'd probably only give money to my close relatives/dependents (Sick uncle and his kids). Those cousins always asking my hooyo for money however? I'm nor giving them anything besides the occasional zakat and goodwill. I don't know them. I don't even know their names nor seen their faces. Most people will think the same way.

I agree but our country existed pre colonialism as a concept. The idea of somali/ethnic nationalism amongst us can even be traced as far back as the adal empire. I do agree however that we should understand all countries go through this and rise.

Firstly, why do you get to say Somali's are a cursed people? How are we cursed? Have you ever gone back home to see how they have rebuilt their homes after having their families killed, land stolen, and being ethnically cleansed from their cities? So all those people are cursed when foreign powers destroyed our cities and our home. At least I have gone back home and seen how they have improved their lives. Even through annihilation, mass murder, bombing , famine my people have come back from that. So these people are cursed? The cities I went to are booming and the people are working hard to rebuild it. And I have actually participated in the rebuilding unlike you dumbass. I donate it and when i was there I was helping build shit too. How did I say I was content? All I said was that most of the Somali regions are FAR BETTER and FAR DIFFERENT from the past in a good way. I think you are just plainly blind and have this defeatist mentally. You want to see us as shit and not improving at all. Well let me tell you this plainly they are working hard and rebuilding and I have seen it with my own eyes. Even through death, annihilation, kidnapping, murders, bombings my people and my family have come back from this and re-built their homes. Idk what your family is doing but dont lump the rest of us with your shitty defeatist mentality. Both of my parents hometowns are doing far better each day. Wdym by monthly check? Bro I work hard and make my own money. Just like parents have and just like my ancestors have. I dont get your ramblings who said I was back in my hometown right now I'm a university student studying in the West. But I have family who show me updates and their lives are far better than when the war happened.

We have strayed far from Allah and his religion. No amount of “help” will do any good if we don’t go back to Allah. Until then wallahi we won’t get anywhere as a Nation.

So you believe that we will fix our country by praying? Trusting in Allah is good but why can't you trust in Allah and build your country at the same time. Are you young? Consider studying something and do something for your country.
