I will always stand with the oppressed against the oppressor, regardless of ethnicity, that’s what our religion teaches us. Nothing will ever change my stance or make me justify oppression; that would be beyond immoral.

However, I also won’t turn a blind eye to those who unjustly target Somalis with insults for no reason. They chose to respond that way when it wasn’t necessary.


If you're upset that those who were being openly disrespectful are being called out and exposed, it’s likely because you’ve become accustomed to mistreatment.

Seeing others clap back sensibly probably triggers a series of flashbacks to all the times you were victimized and lacked the self-respect to stand up for yourself. It probably reminds you of how pathetic you've felt throughout your life.

You know good and well that many of us disagree with supporting ethnic cleansing. We are opposed to acting subservient. If you paid close attention to our comments instead of being affronted, you'd see that we are closer to all agreeing than we are disagreeing.

I could have written a better speech on a receipt from Mcdonalds. The Chinese speech was so heartfelt. Asians/Arabs have lawyers and other networks to protect themselves. We are a visible minority who have our own myriad of issues.

But I hope Somalis still stand up against genocide and evil corporations as much as possible.

Besides Somali issues, I wish Somali Sheekhs raised more awareness about African Muslims that are massacred. For example what happened in CAR.
