I have suggested PL creating it's own currency few times in the past, we need to ditch Somali Shilling currency since every Mooryaan can easily print that currency with a printer, it is hard to regulate it and it's exchange rate is set by few business men in the Bakaara market.

Somaliland banned dollars being used for small transactions through zaad or edahab. Dollar can only be used for transactions $100 or more with these mobile money services. I do know most places will give you Somaliland shilling back as change if you pay with physical dollar only few places will give you dollar change back for dollar bills used.

Now in Galmudug we only use Hormuuud EVC plus and everything is done through mobile bacnking with dollar currency. A lot of people are suffering but it is better than using the Puntland shilling.
