Well fobs don't have much knowledge about health and nutrition. They don't bother to get a yearly checkup for potential cancers/diseases even though their insurance allows the elderly to get a complete health checkup more than once a year

He lived until around 100, keep in mind this is 20th century rural somalia, a lot died through childbirth. Had 9 wives throughout his life
