Preislamic somali deity called assinabus by greco-romans .

It seems like cinnamon was actually cultivated in somalia. But had heavy religious connections. To this deity we worshipped called assabinus. Which is possible a bastarization of ebe.
This has me curious about what other practices and customs we might have abandoned becuase of their connection to preislamic relegious practices.

I'm also now more convinced that if we had a preislamic script the reason we abandoned it was becuase writing in somalia before the 20th century was mostly done by the priestly class of somalis (the ulema) . Naturally the preislamic script with its ties to the preislamic past is gonna died out as this priestly class is replaced with the ulema. Sort of like how with the death of the anicnet eygptian priests who managed the temples. Knowledge of Hieroglyphics died out even though everybody could see them

I remember reading that no species of cinnamon exists in Africa and that the ports selling cinnamon were actually imported from across the ocean. I'm not sure if the Greeks and Romans were aware of these routes.
