A bunch of illiterate MPs get paid a salary every month (there’d be hell to pay if they weren’t), but you expect people who risk their lives to work for free? I don’t believe there is no money.

How much were the soldiers meant to get paid?

60~ million USD could fund $300/month for 20,000 soldiers.

I'm sure the revenue for the past year was a couple hundred million.

Sxb that's not even 60mill it's only 6million which isn't even 0.001 percent of our gdp. Below is a chart that shows the percentage of our gdp spending on military since 1964 till 2016

Compare that to our African neighbors who spend at least 3-5 percent on their military with more than 10 times our gdp. Based on what he said, it looks like farmaajo wants to keep the current trend.

MPs in Somalia probably dont even get paid. My Uncle was an MP there and he just left it because every month they promise to pay you but they do it very rarely. He got free housing and meals but that was about it

you can get a couple locals to fill in as volunteer MPs until there is salary available to them.

Ever since the qalbi dhagax case, he's been different. it's as if he completely lost hope in Somalia.
There's a video of him recently that he says AS are too tough to handle , he then goes on to praise AMISOM and now criticizes SNA.
He really has bad people skills and emotional intelligence.
He caved in too quick though.
He'd speak with the dreams and aspirations of a naive freshman 8 months ago and now speaks like a repeating senior who's failed too many times.
Couldn't even do damage control on the qalbi dhagax case,(eg. investigations,apologies, firing ppl) atleast showing that you care instead of hiding would've been better.

($300 * 12 months)* 20,000 = 72 million. I just rounded it up to 10 months instead.

If the government is still complaining about the lack of funds then why haven't I heard a peep on plans to ramp up tax revenue collection?

Just Benadir alone has a 2+ billion dollar economy.

They aren't interested in fixing the tax system; while still complaining that the hundreds of millions they have isn't enough to pay the salary of a small army.
