yeah a new video dropped.. maybe you history guys can delve into it. Apparently the clues lead to Eritrea.

These videos seem to like to cross out Northern Somalia as one of the most strongest possibilities of being Punt.

The frankincense trees depicted in Ancient Egyptian tombs have been attributed to being from Punt. The specific species is the Boswellia Carteri, which is exclusively only found in northern Somalia. (Ignore the source below saying itโ€™s from Dhofar, itโ€™s an outdated source from the โ€˜30s, studies show that itโ€™s only natively found in Somalia. https://publikationen.sulb.uni-saarland.de/handle/20.500.11880/22895)

Got a question if anyone can answer it for me:

From what we know about Punt, they seem to be an agrarian civilization meaning agriculural practices. Didn't agriculture only arrive in the Horn during the Iron Age?
@Khaemwaset @Emir of Zayla
Iโ€™m not too sure, youโ€™d probably have to ask someone whoโ€™s more familiar with what was going on during that time period. Iโ€™ve never looked in Punt

Not too familiar but I could've sworn Agriculture was present even before the iron age. Didn't we enter the iron age later than other parts of the world too?

Our Cushitic ancestors were responsible for the domestication of sorghum

The gash group culture which our ancestors were part of were the 1st in the world to domesticate sorghum ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Gash group culture is also the most likelihood to be home to the land of punt.

They don't actually cross out Somalia. In the same video he mentions Somalia as a possible location.

Its not just Boswella Carterii but also Frereana grows in Somalia and that is also found Ancient Egyptian tombs. Both of them grow in Northern Somalia. What are the odds that the most native northern species are to be found Egyptian tombs together?

Frereana is only native to Somalia. Carteri is also known as Sacra is also native to Yemen, Djibouti, Somalia and Oman

Last few minutes in the video , he makes it very clear that it's mostly speculative.

The baboon specimen is far from a slam dunk, because P.Hamadryas is what they found and as you can see it encompasses a much wider area than Sudan & Eritrea.

Two New Kingdom specimens of P. hamadryas were sourced to a region that encompasses much of present-day Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Djibouti, and portions of Somalia and Yemen. This result is a testament to the tremendous reach of Egyptian seafaring during the 2nd millennium BC. It also corroborates the balance of scholarly conjecture on the location of Punt.

And Somalia is the only place that they have direct textual evidence that collaborate with Egyptian inscriptions. This needs to be brought to peoples attention.

The significance of punt:
Punt occupied a region south and east of Egypt, and was accessible by land or sea. For Egyptians, Punt was a source of 'marvels', particularly aromatic resins, that drove bidirectional trade for 13 centuries (ca. 2500โ€“1170 BC; Figure 2). Some scholars view this commercial enterprise as the beginning of globalization (Fattovich, 2012), whereas others describe it as the beginning of the spice route (Keay, 2006), a trade network that would shape geopolitical fortunes for millennia. The global historical importance of Punt is therefore considerable, but there is a problem, which Phillips, 1997 put succinctly: "Punt has not yet been located with certainty on any map and no archaeological remains have ever been identified even tentatively as Puntite".

Another possibility is that Punt could encompass a wider region and they could be at times talking about different regions in the south of them and labelling them under the umbrella of Punt.

Somalia of all nations has the most evidence pointing towards it despite having by far the least archaeology conducted compared to all these other nations. archaeologists and historians are trying so hard to force the eritrean narrative due to internal biases

Dominy et al 2020 was very biased they could've narrowed down the probable location further based on the standardized difference but they were too scared to leave out eritrea and ethiopian highlands. North central somalia was the most probable location for the baboon (literally scored nearly 2x closer than eritrea) but of course in the abstract they have to go "uhmmm we really dont know the land of punt could be anywhere" because they don't want to walk back on the eritrean/ethiopia theory they've been trying to push for ages

Like look at this bullshit, central somalia is 2x closer than eritrea and look at the shit they say in the video

i believe punt was between eastern tip of eritrea (where their afar region is) to the eastern coast of somalia on the indian ocean with a capital in mosylon, and it was composed of proto-afar-saho-somali speakers ie lowland east cushites

Im just waiting for more archaeology to come out from the horn to vindicate me
